This year sees the 25th birthday of the first release and conception of the British Touch label, a multi-media company combining both sonic and visual experimentation.
Until the mid-80's (the dawn of the digital era - read : compact discs), Touch specialized in 'cassette magazines', combining experimental music by the likes of New Order, Cabaret Voltaire and The Residents with visual work by graphic designers and visual artists such as Neville Brody, John Savage, Joseph Beuys and many others.
Since the digitalization the label has been working extensively with sonic artists such as Christian Fennesz, Biosphere, Ryoji Ikeda, Mika Vainio, Philip Jeck, Oren Ambarchi and many many others. Jon Wozencroft, a graphic designer who has worked closely alongside Neville Brody for years, is the main character behind the eye-catching yet simple visual style for most of the Touch releases.
This month in independent recordstores : Touch 25, a sonic and visual birthday package, presented to us by Jon Wozencroft and many Touch artists.
